Pedro DeSouza

A Working-Class Voice for Rhode Island

Meet Pedro

Pedro DeSouza is running for Congress to give regular Rhode Islanders a voice again. He is not a career politician. He has worked in restaurants, built a small business, and worked his way into a data career after COVID.

Pedro understands what it means to work hard, pay bills, and watch Washington ignore the people carrying this country. He is running to make life more affordable, hold government accountable, protect personal liberty, and put regular people back at the center of our politics.

AFFORDABILITY. ACCOUNTABILITY. COMMON SENSE.

A Practical Plan for Working Rhode Islanders

We need leaders who fight for working people. Pedro puts working Rhode Islanders first.

Cost of Living & Tax Relief

No federal income tax on the first $50,000 earned. Cap credit card interest at 15%. Punish grocery and essentials price gouging. Put cash back in working families' pockets.

Homes for Families, Not Wall Street

Ban publicly traded firms and subsidiaries from owning single family homes. Tax long-term vacancies and speculative hoarding. Expand starter-home supply and practical density.

End Medical Debt Bankruptcy

Single-payer healthcare that covers every legal resident. Sickness should not come with a foreclosure notice. America already spends enough to provide healthcare to everyone—we just need to cut out the waste.

Lower Energy & Utility Costs

Break monopoly abuse and utility gouging. Lower gas, electricity, and heating bills. Expand domestic energy with modern nuclear. Make basic energy affordable again.

No More Forever Wars

No more blank checks for foreign wars. No more troops sent to die for elites and contractors. Audit the Pentagon and cut the waste. If we can't care for disabled veterans, we have no business making new ones.

Jobs, Small Business & Working Americans

Prioritize small businesses for government contracts. Cut small business taxes. Punish corporate offshoring. Tax corporate AI use when it replaces human workers. Rebuild an economy that works for workers.

Stop Funding Genocide

End military funding and weapons to Israel. Human rights over geopolitics and foreign profit. Demand ceasefires, diplomacy, and accountability.

Defend the Second Amendment

The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Protect law-abiding citizens' right to own and carry. Affordable common-sense gun safety courses. Defend the Constitution, not selective rights.

Veterans Before War Profiteers

Expand housing, healthcare, and mental-health support for veterans. Veterans are human beings, not dollars for the military industrial complex. End the cycle of making new veterans while abandoning the ones we have.

Dissolve AIPAC. No Foreign-Interest Lobby Money.

AIPAC must be dissolved. I will not take money from AIPAC, foreign-agent PACs, or lobbying groups that put another country's interests ahead of the American people. Rhode Island's seat in Congress belongs to Rhode Islanders.
